Rakettitiede’s Board of Directors gets an infusion of new blood and sweat (no tears)
The new Board term was kicked off with a number of appointments on 1 October 2022. Three experts from outside the Rocket entered the line-up, each with their own clear vision of the technology industry and its opportunities.
The new Board members are Janne Lautanala, Tuomo Pyykkönen and Mika Peuralahti. As experienced players in the technology sector, they share a firm belief in the potential of Rakettitiede to conquer a couple more galaxies.
Marietta Johansson and Marko Saaresto, known from previous seasons, continue in the Board. Marko will also keep wielding the Chair’s gavel.
The goal of the Board of Directors, which began its work at the beginning of October, is to boost and promote the Rocket’s growth, in other words to connect world-class software developers with an increasingly diverse client base.
Rakettitiede proudly presents: the tough trio
Here are our new Board members squeezed into a nutshell (in alphabetical order), if you please:
1. Lautanala, Janne
Janne’s background in IT and analytics allows him to combine both consultant and customer perspectives in his work.
With more than 20 years of experience in consulting, in recent years Janne has followed the industry from the client’s point of view as Chief Ecosystem and Technology Officer at Fintraffic. Janne is also deeply involved in international business, which is something we’re also branching into in future.
“Rakettitiede is a smart company in terms of its strategy and mindset, and there’s plenty of room for growth. Now’s the time to scale up and join the big leagues,” Janne says.
Janne points out that the need for software development is becoming increasingly important across industries.
“The challenge is to solve how expertise can be harnessed to benefit an even wider client base,” he says.
2. Peuralahti, Mika
Mika understands consulting transactions and well-being at work and knows how to grow an organically profitable business.
Mika has 15 years of experience in developing digital services at companies such as Elisa. He has accumulated a wealth of experience in using consultants as a part of software development: he’s been in charge of software development for several years and complemented his development teams with external services.
He sees his work in the Board as a source of inspiration for his current role as Chief Technology Officer at Smartum, where he gets to influence policies related to things like well-being at work.
“Rakettitiede has excellent employer values and growth goals. I’m happy for the opportunity to learn how to build growth under a different business domain,” Mika says.
3. Pyykkönen, Tuomo
Tuomo provides insights into the international IT service business and how Finnish growth companies can overcome obstacles.
Tuomo has a 30-year-long history in the IT industry in sales, consulting and management positions at ABB, Unisys and most recently Oracle. A couple of years ago, he left his day job in a global enterprise to become an advisor, board member and investor in smaller companies.
“Rakettitiede finds itself in an impressive growth phase, and their focus on the creators of success, people, is first-rate. I want to draw on my own experiences to ensure that the company’s client and employee satisfaction remains at top level – also with the help of some new tools,” Tuomo says.

We’re buzzing with excitement in our moon suits as we wait to see what the new Board has in store for us.
“I am confident that the new Board will strengthen cooperation between the owners, the Board, the management and the employees,” our CEO Juha Huttunen says.
We will continue to hold on to our principles of competence, culture, well-being and uncomplicated cooperation tooth and nail.
“Our success will continue to be determined by our client’s success,” Juha adds.
We currently employ 55 people and aim for moderate growth without compromising quality or our rocket culture.
